The Costa Serena cruise brings passengers to Ha Long. At 8 AM on October 18, the 5-star cruise ship Costa Serena docked at Ha Long International Passenger Port, bringing 3,040 tourists from Hong Kong, China to explore the beauty of Quang Ninh province. This marks the second time this year that the Costa Serena, owned by a famous Italian shipping company, has made the journey from Hong Kong to Ha Long.
According to forecasts from the Department of Tourism, in the final months of the year, Ha Long is expected to welcome about 13 more cruise ships, bringing in over 15,000 visitors to Quang Ninh. Among them, the Costa Serena will return to Ha Long three more times on its journey between Hong Kong and Ha Long.
On October 21, the Viking Orion brought over 1,000 European tourists to the province, marking a milestone for Quang Ninh as it welcomed 3 million international visitors in 2024, achieving the goals set out in Resolution No. 20-NQ/TU of the Provincial Party Committee regarding the direction and tasks for the year 2024.

On October 21, Ha Long International Passenger Port hosted a ceremony to welcome the 3 millionth international tourist to Quang Ninh in 2024. This visitor arrived on the luxury cruise ship Viking Orion during its journey from Hong Kong to Ha Long. Along with the 3 millionth visitor, nearly 900 other tourists, primarily from the U.S. market, were also on board. According to the program, the international tourists on the Viking Orion will explore Ha Long Bay, the Quang Ninh Museum, and several other tourist attractions in the area on October 21 and 22, 2024.
Welcoming the 3 millionth visitor marks a milestone for Quang Ninh, achieving the highest number of international visitors since 2020. In 2024, maritime tourism to Ha Long has shown significant progress. According to plans, during the 2024-2025 cruise season, there will be over 60 cruise ships visiting Ha Long, bringing approximately 100,000 visitors. Many luxury cruise lines, including Viking Orion, Costa, Seven Seas, Noordam, Celebrity Solstice, Le Lapouser, Seabourn, and Mein Schiff, are expected to dock.
By the end of 2024, nearly 20 cruise ships are projected to arrive in Ha Long, including large vessels like the Costa Serena (3,500 passengers from Hong Kong, China), Celebrity Solstice (2,800 passengers from Europe and America), and Mein Schiff 6 (2,500 passengers from Germany and Europe).
In 2024, Quang Ninh province aims to welcome 19 million tourists, including 3.5 million international visitors. This means that over the remaining two months of the year, Quang Ninh's tourism needs to attract an additional 500,000 international visitors to meet its target.
